    Dear Parents:

     

    We are in the process of planning for next year's kindergarten classes.  If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 10, 2024, please click on and fill out the registration form linked below.  Also, if you know of a child who will be an eligible kindergarten student, please share this information with his/her parents. 
     

    Kindergarten screening will be held on Monday & Tuesday, June 3rd & 4th at Eastgate Elementary School for all incoming kindergartners in the district.  This should not be viewed as an "entrance exam", in that all age-eligible children are welcome.  Rather, it is a community service that serves the following purposes:

    •  To complete an individual assessment for each child;
    •  To identify any special needs and prepare for early intervention;
    •  To provide parents with information that might aid them in their decision about kindergarten readiness for their child;
    •  To obtain pertinent information for school records and eliminate confusion when school starts; and
    •  To derive an enrollment projection so we might plan for an appropriate class size in each of our kindergarten classrooms.


    Eastgate provides full-day kindergarten classes.

    You will need a certified copy of your child's birth certificate, proof of residency (utility bill), and immunization record for screening.  We recommend you update immunizations prior to screening.  Doctor appointments are difficult to schedule in the fall.

    Parents need to pre-register their children by completing the registration form through the link below.  Registration for the 24-25 school year will be accepted beginning January 1, 2024.  Incoming Kindergarten Parent Night is usually scheduled for a night in May.  That date is to be determined.  Please check the Eastgate page on the EHPS website (www.ehps.k12.mt.us) for updates. Ensuring classes are equally balanced is of the utmost importance and part of our planning process looks at student data and academic levels. These pieces of information can be gathered through our screener. 

    Typically, our screening process takes 30-60 minutes and we have a large number of children go through the screening at the same time.  We will wait to communicate a more specific screening plan once that time gets closer.
